Wetland and buffer vegetation management is typically conducted to reduce invasive species in an effort to allow native species to establish or re-establish. Presented are the techniques used by wetland specialists to manage wetland mitigation sites. A variety of management techniques will be covered including cutting/mowing, herbicide applications, biological control species and controlled burning. Additionally we will review a number of invasive/aggressive species (such as purple loosestrife, cattails, sweet clover, teasel, thistle and reed canary grass) and provide insight on which techniques or combination of techniques should be implemented to provide effective control measures.
