Wild Things 2009: Conference Sessions
Saturday, February 7, 2009
University of Illinois at Chicago
Session: E6
Releasing the Sprit of Place: Treading the Ancient Pathway between Land and Self
General: Land Management and RestorationEdward Collins
Is ecological restoration best defined by land management techniques, species lists and unbiased scientific observaiton. Or are we engaged in a more profound dialogue with the natural world? This session will explore how we can begin to articulate our deeper experiences with restoration and understand the intimate connections between humans and nature that involvement in stewardship creates. How does the very act of participating in restoration or management activities unleash the power and realization of that ancient intuitive connection? What are the implications of actively seeking out and cultivating the esoteric and the spiritual as part of the restoration experience for us as individuals and for the larger stewardship movement?
